As a Caregiver, the very best thing you can do for those who depend on you is to take care of yourself. You are the silent heroes and heroines. VA offers a number of services to support Family Caregivers. These services are available in and out of the home to help you care for the Veteran you love and for yourself.
Pay attention to your own needs. Visit your doctor regularly, and get plenty of rest so you can stay strong. Maintaining your health is essential so you are able to continue caring for the Veteran you care for. Chapter 10 - Taking Care of the Caregiver from Designated Caregiver offers suggestions to caregivers to help them care for themselves because too often care providers ignore their own needs. This may work on the short term basis but it will not last for the long haul. Caring for a Veteran with PTSD can be emotionally draining. You need to take aside special time each day your own basic needs. And listen carefully to your body when it gives you messages.
As a Life Coach for Caregivers, I can help you develop a caregiving plan that includes the importance of self care while caring for your loved one.
Some benefits of the Life Coaching For Caregivers process:
You will be encouraged and guided - To learn how to become empowered - To design an effective caregiving plan - To discover why caring for "you" is a priority

MesotheliomaGuide.com - Their mission is to guide mesothelioma patients and their loved ones toward answers, care options, and free health solutions that improve their lives. Definition of Mesothelioma: Malignant mesothelioma is a rare cancer of the protective lining around important organs, such as the lungs. It is caused by asbestos and takes 20-40 years to develop after exposure.
Veterans and Mesothelioma -
Veterans who develop mesothelioma as a result of their service in the military are entitled to benefits and assistance from the U.S. government. Veterans make up the largest group of people diagnosed with mesothelioma because asbestos was so widely used by the military. Veterans who have been diagnosed with mesothelioma are entitled to disability compensation, pension and/or medical benefits through the VA. Surviving spouses and dependents may also qualify for compensation from the VA.
Mesotheliama.Guide.com has streamlined the process of filing for VA benefits. With the help of their VA-accredited claims agent, retired LCDR Carl Jewett, veterans with mesothelioma can easily file for compensation and benefits. Commander Jewett has helped hundreds of veterans receive the compensation they deserve quickly and easily.
Commander Jewett can help with:
Filing for VA disability compensation and/or pension (approximately $3,000 per month).
Spouses and children filing for survivor benefits.
Filing for aid and attendance or housebound benefits.
